FW: Reforming the US political system

Randy Black answered John Heelan on the financing of US political parties: "Mr. Heelan would be fair if he were to outline the monetary support to the Democratic candidates from union labor, the real estate and legal lobbies and other groups that attempt to influence the votes of their favored candidates. Labor unions historically contribute to the Democrats at a ten to one ratio. The United Auto Workers, for instance, gave 100% to the Demos". From the UK, John Heeñan, who wtshes American WAISers a happy July 4, replies: "I have no brief for the Democrats, other than they are not led by "Bush" and the neo-conservatives. Similarly, I have no interest in US domestic politics and thus did not look at the lawyers nor the trades unions. On the other hand, my past, present and future life has been/is/will be affected by US foreign policy. Perhaps Randy could advise me if the lawyers and the unions were instrumental in supporting Bush's Iraq War? I am very interested in the people and things that drive US foreign policy- oil / gas industries, defense industries, neo-conservatives, pro-Israeli lobby etc- which is why I pointed out the major financial contributions made to the Republican Party by all but the pro-Israel lobby. [Incidentally I still have not has a satisfactory answer on the level of funding given by the pro-Israeli lobby- AIPAC escapes reporting its figures and the Federal Election Commission November 2003 PAC list does not show one PAC with the stated objective of financially supporting policies favourable to Israel or Zionism or Jewish interests of any kind. Strange- don't you think?" RH: John has nò interest in US domestic politics? But that is where US foreign policy is cooked.
