The posting on Pope John Paul said: "He has in fact embraced liberation theology in the sense that he looks to the poor rather than to the wealthy and powerful". Christopher Jones writes: "I can't make any sense out of this: was Christ for the rich and powerful?" RH:  Of course not, but the Catholic Church in Europe and Latin America became allied with the wealthy and powerful.  As the bumper sticker says "Christ was a liberal" (in the American sense)..
